An Introduction to Yin Yoga

Service Description

Yin Yoga is quite different than the fast paced yoga we are used to seeing. Going deeper into body and mind we focus on trying accessing the deep connective tissue, ligaments, joints, tensions and fascia. Yin can seem slow, passive, soft and even boring but a yin practice can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses, holding each for anywhere from 2 to 8 minutes keeping body and mind still. This workshop offers: * Introduction to principles of Yin Yoga including Meridians * Explore Yin Yoga poses including connections to their yang counterparts * Explore variations of depth using the body and props to find an appropriate edge * Connect with community in a fun and safe learning environment! Good for all levels. Curious beginners or experienced yogis. Participants should bring a yoga mat, warm blanket, bottle of water & (optional) mug for tea. You are welcome to bring your own props or use studio props. Hatha yoga is about finding balance. This class features posture holds of various lengths, and a focus on breath and physical alignment. Postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated.
